Dear Parishioners,

This Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day. There is so much written in scripture and literature about the unique role of a mother. In scriptures, we see echoes of a mother’s love in the words of God, ‘Can a mother forget her child? Even if she could, I will not forget you.” We come to know the love and goodness of God first and foremost through the love of our mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers and godmothers. On this Mother’s Day, we are grateful for all women who are blessed with tenderness and motherly care.

The month of May is traditionally dedicated to our Blessed Mother. It is a month when families and communities are encouraged to seek Mary’s special intercession by praying the Rosary. I encourage you, as individuals and as families, to seek the intercession of our Blessed Mother for our families, communities, Church and the world at large. If you are not already praying the Rosary, it’s never too late. As we are aware, there are many parts of the world that are suffering because of war, violence and conflicts these days. Let us lift them up to the Lord through our Blessed Mother and pray for peace.

In relation to Mother’s Day and honouring of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the archdiocesan event “A Day With Mary” will be taking place at Villanova College in King City. The faithful from all corners of the archdiocese are invited to participate in Mass, pray the Rosary and grow in our love for Our Lady. Please consider joining His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo and so many others who love the Blessed Mother. We have been providing information in our bulletin about how to register for this free event.
