2025.09.21 Stewardship Sunday-25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Posted : Sep-18-2025

Dear Parishioners,

Stewardship Sunday is celebrated annually across the entire Archdiocese of Toronto on the 25th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Stewardship Sunday normally occurs on the third Sunday in September, which is this Sunday. Stewardship Sunday gives us, the priests of the Parishes in the Archdiocese, a wonderful opportunity to encourage parishioners to prayerfully consider becoming more engaged in the life of their Parish.

For this Sunday, His Eminence, Cardinal Leo supplies a homily to be shared at all Masses that weekend. Following is an excerpt from Archbishop Leo’s homily for Stewardship Sunday:

“While the gifts and blessings we have received are many and incredible, these cannot compare with the divine life offered to us in the most Blessed Eucharist. The Eucharist not only reminds us of Jesus’ total gift of Himself – His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, offered for us and for the salvation of the world – it is also an invitation to imitate His sacrificial love (cf. Jn 13.34-35). True stewardship recognizes the gifts and blessings we have received and with gratitude offers these to God in loving service. Just as Jesus offered Himself to the Father, we offer all that we have and all that we are, heeding the call to “take up our Cross” and follow Him without counting the cost (Matt 16:24-26; Mk 8.34-36).”

As we celebrate Stewardship Sunday today, I thank you all most sincerely for all that you do to further the Lord’s Kingdom in our midst by choosing to be magnanimous with all that you are and have. I want to offer a special word of thanks to all those who generously give their time and energy to serve here at St. Rose of Lima. Let us live each day with gratitude and continue to share our gifts and blessings with others.
