2025.09.14 Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Dear Parishioners,

Fr. Sojan and I invite the members of our parish community to be in solidarity of prayer with our religious community, the Congregation of Holy Cross, as we celebrate the feast of our Congregational patroness, Our Lady of Sorrows, on Monday, September 15. Though many people think that the feast of our religious community is on September 14, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, holy cross is simply the town in France, where our Founder, Blessed Basile Moreau, founded the Congregation.   The Congregation is composed of two distinct societies of religious brothers and religious priests. Following the vision of our founder, Blessed Basile Moreau, the Congregation of Holy Cross continues the mission of Jesus Christ entrusted to the Catholic Church by working to “make God known, loved, and served, and thus save souls.” As apostolic religious brothers and religious priests at the service of the Universal Church, we go wherever the Spirit and this mission lead us. Today, the Congregation of Holy Cross consists of over 1,200 perpetually professed religious brothers and religious priests. Through our vowed religious life, our apostolic work, and our conviction that “the cross is our only hope,” we strive to be men with hope to bring in the 16 countries in which we live and serve. May Our Lady of Sorrows intercede for us all.
