2025.04.27 Divine Mercy Sunday (2nd Sunday of Easter)

Posted : Apr-23-2025

Dear Parishioners,

Here we are the Sunday after the solemn celebration of Easter and on this Divine Mercy Sunday. I am grateful for the wonderful Holy Week celebrations we had here at St. Rose of Lima Parish Community. It was lovely to see so many people coming through our Church doors. I thank you all for being part of our celebrations. A special word of thanks to all our volunteers and ministers for their contributions to make our celebrations a meaningful one. We are blessed to have so many men, women, young people and children, who offer their time and energy to make our celebrations and lively and beautiful

In the Church, Easter continues to be the special time for the sacraments when adults and children are welcomed into the Catholic Christian community through the reception of the sacraments.

Here at St. Rose, at the beautiful Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 19th we welcomed into our parish community our RCIA candidates, who have been journeying with our RCIA team since September. On May 01 and May 08, at 7.00 pm., we will have confirmations for the young people from our four Catholic Schools and for other young people of the Parish, who have been preparing for this sacrament. Bishop Vincent Nguyen, Auxiliary Bishop in charge of our Region, will be with on these days and confirm the young people of our Parish. Later on in May, we will have the First Holy Communions for our children of the Parish.

On Easter Monday, we all heard the sad news of Pope Francis’ passing. We give thanks to God for his papacy and for his humble and inclusive leadership. Taking after his namesake, St. Francis of Assisi, Pope Francis was a compassionate leader admired for his humility, simplicity and reverence for the beauty of creation. May his example motivate and inspire us all to seek a deeper relationship with God and to see the face of Christ in all those we encounter.  May God reward His faithful servant with eternal peace and bliss.
