Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Today's Feast of the Holy Family calls us to re-discover and celebrate our own families as harbors of forgiveness and understanding and safe places of unconditional love, welcome and acceptance. The Holy Family is a model for our families as we confront the many tensions and crises that threaten the stability, peace and unity that are the joys of being a family.
I also take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a very Happy New Year. the name "January" comes from the Roman god Janus, the god with two faces, one looking to the past and te other looking to the future. The New Year is indeed a time to look back at the year that has just ended and to look forward to the New Year ahead of us. How did I spend this one year of moy life that has just passed? What do I neeed to change or work on this New Year to become a better person?
On January 1, we also celebrate the Feast of Mary, the Mother of God. The Feast of "Mary, Mother of God" is a very appropriate way to begin a new year. The Church gives us Mary, as a model and guide to lead us forward. I pray The Lord Jesus and His mother Mary may enrich your lives during the New Year wih an abundance of God's blessings.
Have a wonderful year.
